Hippotherapy (Horse Riding)
Hippotherapy is a medical treatment that utilizes evidence based practice and clinical reasoning to use the natural gait and movements of a horse to develop and enhance neurological and physical functioning.
In 1988, AHS was the first organization that introduced Hippotherapy as a therapeutic tool for children with disabilities in Jordan based on the outcomes of a comprehensive assessment by multidisciplinary team.
Expected Benefit and Target Population:
Hippotherapy, when used under the direction of a trained therapist has been known to show positive impacts on adult and children with neurological disorders, cognitive, motor, speech and social disabilities.
AHS Hippotherapy Team:
Headed by specialized trainer with 33 years’ experience in hippotherapy, and multidisciplinary team (Physiotherapist, Occupational therapist, Speech therapist, School Counselor, Nurse) with 5-10 years’ experience, who work together according to therapeutic plan that was based on comprehensive assessment by AHS multidisciplinary team.
